San Mateo is governed by a Mayor and Vice Mayor elected to three-year terms. The Mayor is the executive head and leads the municipal's departments in executing the municipal ordinances and improving public services, while the Vice Mayor heads a legislative council. San Mateo is one of the municipalities in 2nd District of Rizal Province. Some of the service are:
MSWDO(Municipal Social Welfare & Dev't Office), > social case study report, assistance to PWD(persons with disability), women & children's welfare, provides emergency financial assistance (burial, balik-probinsya, medical), disaster relief assistance (victims of fire, floods, typhoon or other natural calamities), certificate of indigency.
